So Long, Soka!

So Long, Soka!

Cults are concerned primarily with fundraising and recruitment, but Soka is different. We focus on encouraging members to make heartfelt contributions to the Buddha out of sincere gratitude. These contributions are always returned to you thousand-fold by the universe. But please make your check payable to Soka.

Through sincere dialogue and determination we encourage people that Soka is the true path to happiness. This is called shakubuku. It is important to set goals for yourself, such as doing two shakubuku per month. We are not recruiting, we are sharing the law and causing more and more people to become happy through Soka!

If you cannot convince people to join and contribute to Soka, maybe you do not belong with us. We have no time for troublemakers.

Troublemakers have these incorrect attitudes:

1. Nam-myoho-renge-kyo is inherent in one's life, and is unconditional and impartial. Its "functioning" in no way depends on one's participation in a particular group or organization.

2. A Nichiren-inscribed Gohonzon obtained online -- or through another Nichiren sangha such as Nichiren Shu -- is no less a Gohonzon than one rented from Soka.

3. Nichiren Buddhism is a religion; Soka is a religious corporation. They are two separate things. It is possible to practice Nichiren Buddhism correctly and happily without being a Soka member.

Troublemakers learn about cults and examine their vulnerability to cultic groups by reading evil books:

Cults in Our Midst by Margaret Singer

The Manipulated Mind by Denise Winn

Prophetic Charisma by Len Oakes

Recovery from Cults by Michael Langone

Releasing the Bonds by Steven Hassan

Troublemakers seek to learn more about Buddhism from sources other than Soka:

Troublemakers visit these slanderous web sites:
